Meetings with Trees: Ian Westacott

Ian Westacott was born and raised in Mytrleford, Australia. He studied at the Victorian College of the Arts, where he graduated as the recipient of an International Fellowship. This inspired Westcott's original wandering to Scotland. However, it was romance which held Westacott in Scotland. And for this, we are indebted to Sue Jane Taylor. 

In 2000, Westacott embarked on a new relationship, when he unearthed an affinity for trees. Initially enthralled by their intricate exteriors, he became more enamoured with the complexity of their characters. In an upcoming exhibition with Browns Gallery, 'Meetings with Trees', Westacott tenderly reveals the intimacies of this relationship through a series of drawings and etchings.
