Adrian Wiszniewski was born in Glasgow in 1958 and studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1979 to 1983. He was a leading figure in what came to be known as The New Glasgow Boys, celebrated in 1987 at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art with the show 'Vigorous Imagination'.

Wiszniewski's large scale figurative paintings brought him to prominence with solo shows in London and Glasgow. His work can now be found in many international collections, including the Gallery of Modern Art in New York, Tate Britain, Victoria and Albert in London, and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
