'Cereal Kings is a series based on my experience of growing up in the Highlands. I was always fascinated by these ancient lands, particularly the standing stones and trees, and how otherworldly they are in their beauty. Somehow, I feel utterly alien yet completely at home in these environments. I would think about how great Scottish clans and Pictish royalty once ruled these landscapes, and how they have now been replaced with derelict bothies and council housing estates. There is an irony to this juxtaposition that I wanted to explore. When I was a child, my mother taught me how to draw on the backs of cereal boxes. Cereal Kings encapsulates my love of the Highlands and its history as well as illustrating the humour and absurdity of life.' - Keiti Forbes
