Craig Mackay is a photographer living and working from Brora in the Highlands. He left a promising career in the oil industry to complete a degree at Napier University in Photographic Studies. He subsequently returned to the Highlands, setting up a studio and working mainly with musicians, lifestyle magazines and corporate companies.

Mackay’s work draws much from this Highland background. Stark and uncompromising, his images often deal with life, death, religion and ritual. He draws on his own personal experience of emigration and loss to realise the work.

Mackay is currently working on a new exhibition called “Shorag”, a surreal interpretation of his relationship with the sea.
