Pat Semple was born in Kintyre in 1939 and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art. Her paintings were heavily influenced by strong feelings about spirituality and the human need to reassure ourselves, by searching for patterns and symbols in our lives.
Working in watercolour and oils, her work often explored the relationship between the human figure and the landscape. Each layer is full of symbolism, the paintings being a representation of her personal and spiritual lives.
Her work can be found in the collections of the Scottish Arts Council and features in many private collections around the world. -
